Abstract: Poisson brackets associated with Lax operators of lattice systems are
considered. Linear brackets originate from various r-matrices on the alge-
bra of (pseudo-) shift symbols. Quadratic brackets are investigated which
provide Hamiltonian formulations for various reductions of the (modified)
Lattice KP hierarchy
